Brown Palace Hotel

The Brown Palace hotel is designed by architect Frank E. Edbrooke who have played a significant role in Denver's history, designing several landmark buildings, including Central Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Temple Building, among others. Edbrooke bigan Work on The Brown Palace in 1888. He designed Brown's hotel in the Italian Renaissance style, using Colorado red granite and Arizona sandstone for the building's exterior. For a finishing touch, artist James Whitehouse was commissioned to create 26 medallions carved in stone, each depicting a native Rocky Mountain animal. 

NCAR

The Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research is a research center located in Boulder, Colorado. The building complex was designed by modernist architect I. M. Pei in 1961 as his first project outside of city building design. It has been noted for its Anasazi-inspired architecture and use of bush-hammered concrete to blend into the surrounding area. The laboratory was named the 1967 Industrial Research Magazine's Laboratory of the Year.
